Each year, the Arizona Girlchoir partners with local schools and nonprofits to provide access to high-quality classical and modern music performances to families who would otherwise struggle to afford them. The Choir Care Program provides this to approximately 200 low-income children and families per year.
Access to high-quality live music is a critical part of childhood musical development. In order to develop a musical ear and beautiful singing voice, children require modeling from other skilled children so they have something to emulate and model. One-third of Arizona schools lack music instruction entirely. The Arizona Girlchoir Choir Care Program helps these children to experience a professional choral concert, learn more about music, and aspire to a high level of vocal performance themselves.
Through Arizona’s Act One Culture Pass program, tickets are made available to local libraries for families to check out, free of charge, for admission to one of our many engaging, educational, high-quality concerts.
We also connect directly with Title I schools in the vicinity of our concert venues to provide a block of reserved tickets to music teachers for distribution to families of children who are passionate about music but whose families lack the resources to regularly attend concerts such as ours. In this way, we not only enhance the experience of the child and family, but enrich the music education environment of the most under-served schools in our community.
