Homeschooled Singers

AZGC homeschool

While the Arizona Girlchoir welcomes all singers, homeschooling girls generally make up around one-half of our membership at any given time, and our staff is well-versed in serving the needs of our homeschooling population!

Our excellent music education program can be used for your singer's homeschool transcript. We can provide a grade, course description, and credit documentation for any grade level, at your request. Of special interest to high schooled homeschoolers: our curriculum fulfills Arizona's Fine Arts requirement for your high school transcript. Every year that you sing with us may be counted as either a Fine Arts or elective credit, which is helpful since many colleges and universities require two or more Fine Arts credits.

Listen to Mike Farris of HSLDA interview Steven McCollum of Patrick Henry College about the benefits of choral education for homeschoolers!

Benefits of Music Study

Music study improves SAT scores

Numerous studies show that study of music and the arts aids in the development of more active community members and even has a significant impact on improving overall academic performance. According to the National Association for Music Education, the study and practice of music helps develop language, reasoning, and memory skills and leads to better emotional development … and better SAT scores! Hand-eye coordination, spatial intelligence, creative thinking, and teamwork also show marked improvement!
